I clearly recall the nervous stomach I carried around with me, during my senior year in high school. The anticipation of college admission applications, and entrance exams was ever-looming.
I was convinced my SAT and ACT exam scores would determine whether I would PASS or FAIL at life. In response, I white-knuckled it into, and through college. The academic counselor would discuss career paths and possible pursuits, and I would rigorously shake my head ‘yes’ and obediently agree to her suggestions. I was hardly prepared for these types of decisions. “Aha, I know! I would declare my major based on roles I’ve seen other women pursue (circa 1993).” Can you relate?
Are we forgetting an important element to this career labyrinth?
What about your unique skill set? Should we consider our natural talents? What if academic counselors ask you if you are interested in launching your own company, or pursuing entrepreneurship as your major? Would you say yes?
Natural talents and abilities can take us far. Typically, these superpowers manifest themselves in the hobbies we choose as a young person and logically, we continue to pursue the hobbies we most enjoy, or perform best. Natural abilities are the traits hardwired within each person that make some tasks in life easier.
Are you truly matched with a career that incorporates your natural skill set, or are you hungry for more?
I encourage you to examine your natural abilities. Call us for a chat….
