On the Third Day of my Great Resignation my decision gave to me the gift of Non-Compliance.
An unexpected realization appeared on day three, that surprised me. A feeling of being freed from captivity, without the awareness of actually being held captive. I know, weird, right?!
Have you ever had to ‘go-along’ with a value system, that was in direct opposition of your own?
The definition of compliance is: the action or act of complying with a wish or a command. To hold moral conflict internally, for me, was unacceptable. Change was undeniable.
My survival was no longer incumbent upon my compliance to the firm’s belief system. I now had the opportunity to align my belief system with my professional craft and bring it to the world.
In the powerful words of my trainer, Luke Connell, MS CSCS, “Carly, Wolves don’t take orders from sheep”.
Today, I learned that I was not a sheep, but rather a wolf.
